This week on a special bi-coastal BTL, we're joining the chorus of people who think it's time for Debbie Wasserman Schultz to give up the ghost and leave the DNC in less compromised/incompetant hands. Though even her Saturday debate scheduling couldn't stop us from sort of semi-watching the Dem Debate, most of what we took away involved Martin O'Malley being super irrelevant and a little sad. One debate we didn't snore through, however, was last week's GOP debate because GUYS it was 25% fresh shenanigans (though, sadly, also 75% warmongering)! Tune in for our rundown of both debates and more before we disappear for two full weeks into the Christmas ether!
BTL #177 - Friday the 13th - 11/17/15
Well let's not beat around the bush - this week was a mess. Thanks to those terrible attacks on Western Europe/the joy of Lila's birthday, most of us realized that terrorism-related death and destruction is happening everywhere. The world is a dangerous place and we're just living in it/hoping not to have cynical politicians team up with the terrorists to make us 100% scared at all times. BUT, we also had two debates, one for each party, and we've got plenty of thoughts on where the biggest schism in the GOP really lies, where the most interesting schism in the Democratic party lies, and how parroting Rudy Guiliani is never the right choice. Then on to some interesting protests heating up at universities nationwide and why SCOTUS hates our sanity so much. And tons more! Really. The extra day gave us too many thoughts!
BTL #175 - Marauding Danger Blimp - 11/2/15
This week on BTL...Paul Ryan is adorably optimistic for a guy who just became House Speaker. And maybe the GOP’s distaste for facts and math explains why their supposed party “frontrunner” (today it's Rubio!) is perpetually in 4th place. Also, DON'T PANIC about the Sherrod Brown Hillary endorsement thing, guys. Everything is going predictably and that's okay. And yet another Clinton v. Fax Machine war in the week's email release. Plus, finally, an adorable military blimp on an adorable mission captures the imaginations of Americans far and wide. At least we can all agree we're pro-blimp!
BTL #174 - Politically Suicidal - 10/26/15
This week on the podcast, after 11 hours of Benghazi questioning, Hillary Clinton proves she has the stamina of a champion filibusterer. Too bad we didn't know this while she was in the Senate! And if this week wasn't already good enough week for her campaign, two Democratic contestants and one would-be contestant dropped out! Bye Linc! Plus, sorry Jeb!, it turns out that all the money in the world can’t buy you...money for your campaign. All this plus Ben Carson and the confusing logic of the Iowa electorate, Paul Ryan's forthcoming political suicide, and a walk down memory lane with family values and prostitute lover David Vitter!
Meet The Candidates #2 - The Lincoln Logs
Lincoln Chafee. Linc Chafee. Good ‘ole Linc. Third generation governor, beneficiary of Rhode Island's evident dedication to a grand tradition of near-monarchy, and member of any political party that will have him. We've already delved into the biography of his Andover classmate Jeb!, so today we take a closer look at Linc, the aristocrat on the other side of the aisle.
BTL #173 - Trump's Hat Plan - 10/19/15
There was finally a Democratic debate and we got our first (and hopefully last) look at Lincoln Chafee and Reagan bobblehead Jim Webb! No Biden as of yet but don't worry, he's STILL thinking. Still. Plus, we finally agree with Ben Carson on something so we're a little shocked and confused about that. And, we've got the lowdown on the the six GOP candidates that should probably just leave the race right this moment and one candidate who may or may not be using his potentially fake campaign as a cover for a new, very real, very boring clothing brand. This plus Clinton news, Fox news, fundraising news, Twitter news and so much more!
Digging Into the Democratic Debate: How Are the Candidates Prepping?
Last week we helped you prep for tonight’s Democratic Presidential debates by letting you know what and who to look out for. And by “who to look out for," we mean there are literally people participating in the debate that you will probably not recognize. Today, however, we'll delve into the varied (and variously absurd) ways the candidates are prepping themselves for tonight’s festivities....
BTL #172 - Human DNA Found at Politicon - 10/12/15
This week on the podcast, so many names we haven't visited with in a while: Paul Ryan, Michele Bachmann, and more! Plus, Hillary Clinton can't help but destroy everything she loves, and her latest victim is her beloved TPP. Oh, and McCarthy is OUT so the Speaker of the House election is now anybody's (or possibly nobody's) game. Who will it be? You? Us? Nancy Pelosi? Tune in to hear our thoughts and let us know yours on Twitter!
